I'm completely obsessed. I can't think of anything except for my baby and what life will be like with him. I apologize that every single post I write has something to do with my pregnancy! But oh well, it is the most exciting thing going on around here these days. Everytime I walk past his room I think about what it will be like when there is a real live baby in there! I hope he's like his daddy and likes to snuggle because I just can't wait to hold him (and I know his daddy can't wait either)!!
So I have an important question for all of you wonderful mothers out there. What do you think about bumper pads? Everything I read as far as safety pretty much says that you shouldn't have them, but they are so darn cute! Mine just came in the mail today and I just love them, except Jon feels pretty strongly that we shouldn't have them. They just make the crib look all cute and comfy and finished. I'm considering sending them back and using the money to buy the curtains that go with my bedding set instead. I don't know what to do. Any advice from someone with some experience?

I used them, they were cute. As long as you pulled them really tight, my kiddos were ok...but...then again, my little ones didn't sleep in their cribs until they were a little bigger. When they are really little, they really do stay put exactly where you lay them down...however, on a practical side, the curtains will be in the room much longer. As soon as he starts to stand, you'll take the bumper pad off so that he doesn't use it to crawl out...but...it is cute!
Of course every post is about the baby and pregnancy...we wouldnt expect anything different. This is the MOST amazing time and we love to read about it!
I bought them for my first child and used them until she actually slept in the crib. With my second and now my third, I didn't even bother with them. I vote for the curtains!
Ok I am not a mom, but I have a lot of experience in the NICU and maternity floors in nursing. Ok you know there are risks with any loose material around the baby. If you have him in a crib early and not the pack n play, then 1. make sure they are really tied tight checking every night. 2. buy those baby wedges that they can sleep in. It keeps them from moving around and helps them stay on their backs. When they are so little they dont move too much if you have them swaddled good and in that wedge. But when he gets older and slips out of the swaddle, and if he is still under 1 year old, I would get rid of them. That is when we see risks. But yes they are so cute.

I've had them in Brady's crib since day one and haven't had a problem with them. In fact, they became quite useful once he started to roll around. They prevented him from hitting his head on the rails. Now, I like them because he can chew on them instead of the wood of the crib. When babies are newborns, they really don't move at all. And, once they can roll over, they can pretty much move their head if something is not allowing them to breathe. At least, that's been my experience with Brady. I know a lot of parents that have chosen to get the "breathable bumpers" instead just as a precaution. As for the curtains, I got really cheap ones at Wal-Mart that are adorable (plain green that tie up from the bottom). Just a thought :)
I cannot wait to meet little baby Tanner! I was just thinking yesterday how I wish he would hurry up and get here!
