However, we gained some extensive landscaping when we moved into our house and I have been challenged to develop a green thumb. I have no idea what I'm doing, but I love it! When the weather is good, I relish in my time spent outside while Tanner is napping. Mostly, I've just been weeding. (I still have a WAYS to go in this department, as you'll see in the coming pics!) I am pretty sure that I've pulled a few things that aren't really weeds, but oh well. I am having so much fun watching things start to grow and I'm anxious to see what comes up throughout the summer. Hopefully in a few years I will know what I'm doing. I really wish that each plant had a set of directions stuck in the ground beside it so that I knew how to take care of it!
I am also trying to be "greener" in other ways. I just ordered my first cloth diaper yesterday (BumGenius 3.0) and I'm anxious to try it out to see if we'd like to order a whole set. Jon and I are convinced that we'd like to switch from disposable to cloth, not only for the environment (it's kind of a toss-up between using more water to wash them and sending the disposables to a land-fill), but hopefully to make our bank-account a little greener, too! Any suggestions as we make the switch?

Your landscaping is beautiful. I have no suggestions for diapering...we still use throwaways. The dedication pictures are great and I would love the word file to make a jar. You'll be so surprised at the things that come out of mouths of babes. They are so smart, yet so innocent at the same time. Truly a special time.
Hey Rachel! Thanks for your message, I am definitely getting excited and antsy to have this little guy. I know being so uncomfortable will pay off very soon! I'm due in 3 days so I'm hoping that any day he'll be here (the sooner the better though :))!
I don't have any suggestions on cloth diapering, but the website I told you about before (babycheapskate.com) has great reviews on cloth diapers...you just have to do some searching for it. (Or type a message to the "host" and she'll point you in the right direction--she's usually really good at helping anyone who asks) I've seen many posts about it, from the quality of different brands to prices, etc. Might be worth a shot to check into...
PS. I would love the word document that you have from the "conversation jar", if you wouldn't mind sending it to me.
Rachel, the yard is beautiful! Please include more pics of the house--I can't wait to see it! :) We are also acquiring a yard with nice landscaping, for which I have no idea how to maintain! Maybe we can learn together...
As for cloth diapering, we have been doing it now for over 2 years and LOVE it! We use Fuzzi Bunz with Hemparoo inserts and love them!! I have oodles of suggestions and was thinking of posting cloth insight on Building Cathedrals soon. Friends of ours have also been really happy with Bum Genius. Let me know what you think! We can def. talk more...
The yard looks so nice and big. Although the bigger it is the harder the work, but once you get it going it takes a lot less time. I don't have a green thumb, either. I love to buy the flowers and plant them and that's it. I always forget to water or weed, so if Eric doesn't do it they die. Very pathetic, I know. I hope some day when we live somewhere permanent, I'll get better.
The yard looks awesome, so green! I love the purple flowers. I don't have any advice about cloth diapers, but am interested in what others have to say. We sort of considered them for Grady, but never really did the research.
Oh yeah, I'd like to get the file for the jar project also. Sounds like a great idea.
