Yesterday was such a good day! My good friends from girls' nights in Colorado Springs, Annie and Katie, came to visit me and meet Tanner. Katie and her husband moved back to the midwest this summer, so they are living about 5 hours away. Katie made the drive all the way here just to spend the day with me. Annie was in town visiting family and we thought it would be so much fun to get together. The girls totally spoiled me. Annie brought a yummy lunch for all of us and we just sat and talked all day. It was so nice not to have to worry about entertaining them, but knowing we would all be happy just to chat in my family room all day. It made me remember how much I miss all my girlfriends from Colorado!
Katie, Tanner, and Annie
Tanner is so relaxed in Annie's lap! He loves feeling the breeze on him outside.
Last night was a long night. Every once in a while, Tanner just refuses to go to back to sleep after he nurses. After his 1am feeding, he was up until 4am. I'm so tired! Any suggestions for what to do in these situations? I'm trying to catch up on some zzz's while he's sleeping today. Despite these random sleepless nights, I really can't complain too much about Tanner's sleep habits. He has been such a champ sleeping in his crib in his own room for the past week and a half. He is a good napper and a good eater. My sweet boy ........
Thank-you, Michelle, on your awesome suggestion to buy a bebe au lait cover for nursing in public. I checked out the website and they are so cute! I'm going to go check out a boutique down the street that carries them today!

Rachel, how great to see pics of dear Katie! Wonderful that she was willing to drive all that way to see you... Your sleeping query sounds like a very common problem and one that time will mend. A lot of babies tend to get their days and nights confused within the first month. Just do your best to keep things bright and cheery during the day; while calm, dark, and quiet at night. That way, Tanner will begin to get the idea that playtime/awake time is for daytime!! And keep tapping the naps to make up for your zzzz's... Good for you! Hugs, B :)
Rachel,
What a wonderful post and what a fabulous day!
I loved meeting Tanner and seeing what a wonderful mom you are. He's a lucky guy.
Can't wait to keep on reading and watching him grow.

Isn't it fun when good friends come to visit? I am hoping Kennedy and I can make a trip to visit one of the next times we come to Michigan!
I remember a few times when Kennedy decided she wanted to be up after the middle of the night feeding. In fact, one night I watched many shows on our TiVo to keep myself awake. My only advice is do what you have to do to get him to sleep. If he likes the swing, car seat, etc. let him sleep there for a few hours. It won't spoil or ruin him and you'll be able to get some rest. Kennedy loves her swing and she has slept in it when I couldn't get her to sleep in her crib. Also, even though Jon is the one working, don't be hesitant to wake him up and let him have a stab at it. I found that when Brady would get Kennedy, she would fall right asleep. It was as if she was tired of being with me and my tiredness and stressing was wearing on her too! A calm, new person did the trick.
Did you have any luck with the cover up? I actually have a code here for free shipping if you need to order it from the website (type the code 00999 in the messages section at check out).
Love the pictures! Keep them coming!
Love,
Michelle
Hi Rachel and John and Tanner, Cramer showed me your blog so I had to say hi and congratulations! You all look wonderful and very happy. I am just wondering how you find the time to post a blog. Probably how I find time to read it. I'm at work.
Love,
CD
