In Case You've Been Wondering ...

I never got sick after all!

Somebody must have been praying -- was it you, Grammy?

I have no idea why germs travel so fast in this house. Do you?

** P.S. Don't worry, Aunt Kat -- we're cutting the mullet any day now. ;)

Glad you didn't get sick!!!
So, we got our beloved Nikon camera a couple of weeks ago. I have had no time to play around with it. So...I'm going to ask you for a shortcut....what settings are you using most often??? Any tips are greatly appreciated.

and which lens do you find yourself using most often?

Congrats on the new camera! You are going to LOVE it! I use my 55-200 lens most often. It's kind of bulky ... especially to take places ... but I think the smaller kit lens kind of makes faces look a little distorted (big nose, etc). I also think the 55-200 does a better job of blurring the backgrounds.

When I first started, I always used auto focus, now I mostly use manual focus. I also pretty much always keep it on the sports setting because it has the fastest shutter speed, which is essential for the little ones.

I've had mine for a YEAR and I'm still learning! I would love love love to get a really nice, sharp lens! I'll be saving for a while for that one, though! If you want some really good tutorials, check out www.iheartfaces.com and MckMama's blog. I've learned a lot from them! I'm trying to learn how to do manual settings, but it's all kind of scary for me! Best advice I could give is just to take LOTS and LOTS of pictures and just keep playing with it. Oh ... and get a circular polarizer filter for outside -- it makes a HUGE difference in your pics!

I hope this helped a little bit! Let me know if you have any other questions!
